Στον Πέτρο άρεσαν πολύ τα ταξίδια και καθόλου το διάβασμα. Ζήλευε το θείο του που ήταν ναυτικός και γύριζε όλον τον κόσμο. Κάποτε του ζήτησε ένα κομμάτι από την Κίνα και εκείνος του έστειλε ένα βιβλίο… Αργότερα, ο Πέτρος κατάλαβε ότι με αυτό θα έκανε τα ωραιότερα ταξίδια.
