Ο «Ακάθιστος Ύμνος», ή αλλιώς, οι «Χαιρετισμοί της Θεοτόκου», είναι το πλέον προσφιλές λειτουργικό κείμενο της Εκκλησίας μας και διαβάζεται επί σειρά αιώνων από ιερείς, μοναχούς και λαϊκούς, στη δημόσια ή ιδιωτική λατρεία, κατά την περίοδο της Μεγάλης Τεσσαρακοστής (την Παρασκευή των πέντε πρώτων εβδομάδων) ή και καθημερινά, όλο το έτος, μαζί με την ακολουθία του μικρού Αποδείπνου ή και αυτοτελώς.
