The Dreamers and the lighthouse of dreams
12.90€
A dense menacing darkness, darker than the shadow, covers the Land of Dreamers. Few will realize it and few will admit the weakening of dreams. The country seems to be besieged by invisible secret enemies; are the Dreamers, some will argue – but the Elect will deny it. When failed Dreamer flights increase, the old prejudice against the different flares up and divides the race again into capable and inferior. Asterini, the mysterious girl, despite any attacks against her, seems determined to carry out her secret mission. Sebastian, the fearless young man who manages to fly to the limits of the Dream Airport, will face a big dilemma. Dan and Malvina will be in danger of being trapped inside the house of the Sirius Gang when it is attacked. Victor, the leader of the Sirius gang, must reach even the farthest border of Chora, in the Abyss, where the Dream Collectors set up their nets. They all seem to have no choice but to fight against Fear and what kills dreams. Before the world of Dreamers and the world of Humans are irrevocably and forever cut off, their only chance may be a unique dream – the last one? In the footsteps of the state-award-winning and long-selling book Dreamers, The Dreamers and the Lighthouse of Dreams is an exciting adventure – with intense cinematic suspense and alternating dreamy and dystopian atmospheres; an allegorical story about the right to diversity and the dream. Fear, but whatever kills dreams, is what the heroes of Angeliki Darlasi’s new book are trying to overcome. In a gloomy age, where young people’s dreams die late, this book looks like the musical investment of a generation that, before it even grows up, struggles to find its way to heaven, to Earth, to the universe. Lyricism and nerve: this is how one would briefly describe the temperament of Angeliki Darlasi. […] The second book continues the small masterpiece that was the first “Dreamers” (2004). Reading the rest, I find it difficult to distinguish which one I prefer (after all, I could never single out any of the seven Harry Potter films as better than the others). The quality of the world narrative pointed out by Eugenios Trivizas, chairman of the Commission that awarded the first book, is also unrecognizable here. The quality of the world narrative that was pointed out here by Eugenios Trivizas, chairman of the Commission that awarded the first book, is unrecognizable here as well. This is the -fascinating in conception and execution- fantasy story, which continues in the magical world of the Dreamers. Darlasi’s narrative quality becomes apparent here as well, as the soft and contemplative tone alternates with sharp phrases and the linear narrative is enriched with a prologue and an epilogue of theatrical structure, which refer to the corresponding parts of the first book. Linguistic beauty waves in unsuspecting phrases […] Thus, by closing the eyes of children with a trick, one teaches them what style means. Darlasi knows this, as few do. The ability of people to dream, free thought, free from fear, thinking that transcends, creatively, limits is a condition of life for the writer. Her own answer to the questions posed by Langston Hughes’s poem seems to be “all this will happen if you postpone a dream, so it is urgent NOT to postpone it”. […] Conception is possible, you do not forget it. Every dream of yours also has a protector, up there, who struggles to save it, to make it fly as high as possible, to protect it from the Abyss. The images from this supernatural state, which nevertheless accurately reflects the weaknesses of human society, are also strong. The only solution is faith, action, resistance to fear and fanaticism, courage and a clear mind. To become the Dream Keepers of our dreams. […] Scattered thoughts around a number of topics such as who is a good leader or a good teacher function as “beacons of dreams”, as the title says. As beacons for a society that can give wings to dreams. Intense lyrical tone, emphasis on the atmosphere, the colors, the shadows, all lead to the enjoyment of detail, to a slow reading, even if the plot is tight and solid.
